The Student Health Center and Pharmacy (SHC & P) welcomes you to UA! Our center is designed to meet your healthcare needs while away from home. Our services include acute and chronic care, vaccinations, allergy shots, women’s health, nutrition therapy, psychiatry, substance abuse, and foreign travel consultation. Lab and state-of-the-art digital x-ray services are available conveniently in the same building. In addition, the in-house pharmacy fills over 100,000 student prescriptions annually. All co-pays can be conveniently charged to your student account or payed by your flex card; you never have to have cash when seen for care. The staff of the SHC & P are committed to serving our students’ needs, evident by the fact that their combined years in practice is approximately 450 years. That’s impressive!

Health promotion and wellness education is a big part of our outreach to students. Health fairs, interactive events, presentations, and awareness activities occur throughout the academic year. Through our award winning Project Health Peer Education Programs and the over 170 trained volunteer peer educators, their combined activities reach approximately 45,000 contacts annually. Their programs involve over 60 hours weekly during the academic year with a different health topic every week overseen by our professional Health Educator Staff. The Department of Health Promotion and Wellness also administers the nationally known AlcoholEdu for College™ and Haven™ courses that are required of all entering students.

Please have your healthcare provider complete the required immunization form and upload via your MyBama account before coming to campus. Also, prior to your arrival on campus, please visit the SHC website and complete the Medical History Form and bring with you on your first visit. Feel free to check us out on Facebook and Twitter for updates and announcements. We are truly your medical home away from home. Please contact us with any questions or concerns at 205-348-6262.

Sincerely,
