The Department of Health Promotion and Wellness offers a number of workshops and awareness programs about alcohol, drugs and related issues. Many of the programs are interactive and excellent for groups. Our alcohol presentations focus on the following topics, and can be tailored to any learning style or level:

The Alcohol and Other Drug Strategic Health Team serves as a collaborative campus group and is composed of faculty and staff from diverse areas throughout campus. This group meets monthly during the academic year to discuss, review, and recommend strategies for prevention and intervention actions for students.

Red Watch Band Program

The Department of Health Promotion and Wellness at the Student Health Center encourages students to take an active role in enhancing the safety of the campus community through participation in the Red Watch Band training.

UA’s Medical Emergency Assistance Policy

The mission of the Red Watch Band program, developed by Stonybrook University, is to provide members of the campus community with the knowledge and skills to identify and effectively intervene in alcohol-related medical emergencies.

Training will include how to:

  • Summon professional help
  • Respond to alcohol emergencies effectively
  • CPR certification
  • Promote culture of responsibility on campus
